Mayflower Park Fireworks: A Huge Success
Yesterday, thousands of people congregated at Mayflower Park to watch this year’s fireworks display, organised by Southampton’s Round Table.
Those that attended witnessed a fantastic display by British pyro-musical champions, Pyrotex. People clapped and cheered as the fireworks exploded into the sky, creating spectacular pops and crackles.
Southampton Round Table said:
“All money goes to support local charities in desperate need of help so it’s a big bang with a big impact!”
This year, it most certainly was!
Southampton Round Table are celebrating success after their annual Fireworks display attracted more than 15,000 people. Because of this success, a huge amount of money has been raised for local charities.
Those that bought tickets have helped raised thousands of pounds towards the following charities: Radio Lollipop, Simon Says and Youth Options.
It was a fun afternoon and evening for family goers, with a fun fair and live entertainment from Southampton’s community radio, Voice FM. Crowds were treated to live music from: Basement 83, Good Bye Brighton, The Collision, Tyrone & Kier, Shannon B, Toby Janes, Ryan Graves, Sasha Lauryn, DJ Austaction and DJ Balmy.
Special guest PA’s included Funkie, Dalla Supreme and Amy Holloway.
This year also saw a fantastic stage from Jerk Jam and Creative Construction.
The crowd enjoyed a further 3 minutes of Fireworks this year, with the display extended to include a grande finale.
Community Coming Together
The local Southampton community came together for the event, with over 60 volunteers helping on the day. The local Samaritans were there to lend a helping hand and random bag checks were issued to ensure a safe environment for all.
