If you want to drive more organic traffic to your website and grow your business, then you’ll need to get your SEO up to scratch. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is all about making sure users can find your website through Google, Bing and other platforms.

It’s a competitive digital landscape online. If you want to be found, then you need to stand out. Whether you’ve attempted to optimise your website before and haven’t seen the results you need, or you’re just starting out with a new asset and are worried nobody will find it, you should talk to us.

Here, we’ll offer a few recommendations – our main one being that you should book a free website audit and consultation with our team to discuss your tailored SEO strategy.

Technical Health

Nobody likes a website that’s slow and difficult to navigate – not customers, not search engines. Regular, in-depth website audits are an important part of any SEO strategy. Without them, you might not be aware of errors on your website that could prove pretty critical.

There might be 4XX error codes on your site – broken links that customers can’t follow. Imagine spending time and money driving traffic to a website that, ultimately, ends up with users stranded on a 404 page. Not a great first impression.

Similarly, perhaps you’ve got a site that’s full of exciting videos, eye-watering graphics and the most amazing visuals… But if it takes too long to load, nobody is waiting around for those images and videos to appear. You’ll lose those customers before they’ve seen what you’re trying to show them. Site speed and technical health are two important considerations that are too important to miss.

Strategic Keywords

If you aren’t ranking for the right keywords on search engines, then nobody is going to find your website organically. Your product and service might be incredibly unique, so what are customers going to be searching for so they find you?

Third-party tools like Ahrefs, SEMRush, Google’s Keyword Planner and more will show you estimated monthly search volumes for queries that people are searching for online. Some of them will surely surprise you! (If you can think of a question, then someone has probably asked it online – and found their answer!)

You’ll want to decide which keywords to target. High-volume search terms will naturally be more competitive and harder to rank for. It might be more effective, if you’re just starting out, to try and win rankings for more niche keywords. You could get more value from being on page 1 for a specific, high-intent keyword with, say, 100 searches a month than if you are stuck on page 5 for one with 5,000. Finding and targeting the right strategic keywords is so important, though it can be challenging – but that’s where we come in.

Local Listings

As important as your website is, there are other elements of SEO that you’ll want to pay just as much attention to. Have you noticed Google Business Profiles online? You may have your own already. These will often appear in a ‘map pack’ on the search results page and are mostly based on brand-led and location-specific searches.

Google Business Profiles (GBPs) highlight some key metrics about your business – contact details, products and services, frequently asked questions, hero images, and more – but they rely on you to provide them with this information. They can’t pull it directly from your website, so yes, it’s something else to maintain, but it’s so important.

Your GBP could, in fact, be the only thing that customers see of your business. They have the option to click through to your website, but they don’t have to. Since GBPs present all the information up-front, people can call you from it directly – or not. If your listing only has negative reviews, poor quality images and outdated information, your customers might make up their minds about you and choose never to see your beautiful website. That’s why keeping your Google Business Profile and other directories and local listings need to be optimised for SEO as much as your site, if not more so in some cases.

Voice Search & AI

Increasingly, the ways in which people search are changing. AI is becoming more prevalent and integrated into various tools – Siri and Alexa have been around for years now, but now search engines are presenting AI overviews of your search results without you even saying a word.

That’s why your website needs to be optimised for these kinds of searches. Without it, you’ll be left behind. Gemini AI, ChatGPT and many more are changing SEO whether we like it or not. Customers are searching in different ways. Are you available for them?

You can tailor your SEO strategy to cover voice search and AI best practices by thinking around the content you’re creating Long-tail keywords – that is, ones that are more conversational – are closely aligned with how people ask Siri for help with something. AI is on the hunt for topical, authoritative content to summarise. Your website needs to be up to date and optimised as a trusted resource for ChatGPT and others to draw upon.
